Hello 8th grade Families!
Earlier this morning, Dr. Brotschul sent out a district communication about the
closure of schools for the remainder of the school year. Included in that email was the
following information which speaks directly to events for our current 8th graders:
Due to the COVID-19 shutdown, and pending guidance from the Governor and Department of
Health, the 8th grade students will have a combined promotion ceremony with a newly started
tradition of an inaugural Convocation at Delran High School to memorialize the beginning of
their high school career. Convocation 2020 will take place on August 26, 2020 at 6:00pm
Delran High School at Joseph Chinnici Stadium at 6:00pm.
At that ceremony all students will be granted with certificates of completion from Ms. Luyber and
Delran Middle School as we officially hand over the incoming Class of 2024 to Mr. Finkle and
Delran High School. Special award winners will be announced in June in a digital tribute to the
Delran Middle School Class of 2020, with physical receipt given at Convocation 2020.
The annual 8th grade trip and dance will not be rescheduled nor will they take place,
unfortunately.
Please know that I share your feelings of disappointment with how the year is ending,
but I am excited for the opportunity to take part in a ceremony to honor your children
on the evening of August 26th.
The main office will begin processing refunds for the 8th grade events as follows:
● Families who paid by check will have the check voided and returned to them in
the mail by June 1st. To date, no checks have been cashed for 8th grade events.
● Families who made by money order will receive a check from Delran Middle
School in the mail by June 1st.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Wendy Luyber, Principal
