Report for the Anthropology Students Association on March 15 2023
❖ President
➢ Has secured a room for the ASA in Leacock. Manages and aids other portfolios. Is
currently working on elections and will be requesting exit reports soon.
❖ VP Internal
➢ Has been attending all faculty meetings (monthly)
➢ Sharing messages between professors and undergraduate student body
➢ Is currently working on improving communication and working with professors in
assessing the current honours program.
❖ VP External
➢ Has continuously updated the ASA executives about AUS politics and makes
informed decisions when voting.
❖ VP Finance
➢ Working with the other portfolios to assess the amount of funds needed.
➢ Bake sale helped with our funding a lot!
❖ VP Academic
➢ Working with the internal to improve prof-student communication.
❖ VP Events
➢ TA Tuesday - a presentation by an anthropology TA that talks about being a graduate
student and doing research. Next one is March 21st with Tuyaa Montgomery!
➢ Movie night - free and chill movie night in January, will try to do again
➢ Coffee hour meet and greet - just working out the details with Mamie Clafoutis
➢ Trying to book a venue for our journal launch which would be mid-April.
❖ VP Publications:
➢ Journal submissions are closed and editors are currently reviewing the work. We had
23 submissions this semester with a wide range of genres.
➢ Will be published in April, will be doing physical print copies.
❖ VP Communications
➢ Created weekly chill time every Friday 9-11 in the ASA office (116a Leacock)
➢ Sending out listservs in a timely manner
❖ VP Creative
➢ Creating all the wonderful graphics on the ASA instagram
❖ VP Webmaster
➢ Updates the ASA website and helps with other portfolios.
