AUS Senator Report
March 29, 2023
Senate Meetings
- I asked my questions about the report on the Policy on Sexual Violence at last week’s
Senate. Deputy Provost Angela Campbell was, as usual, u nhelpful a nd combative. I love
Dean Robin Beech, he is always very transparent. Please contact me if you’d like more
details.
- I also contributed to asking questions about the University’s budget. They have $40M in
revenues classified as “miscellaneous” and we WILL find out what that means.
Senate Caucus (same information as last LC)
- Please fill out any surveys run by SSMU in the AUS listserv.
- We are drafting a set of recommendations for SACOMSS regarding how they can
improve their operations and visibility in the community. Please contact me if
interested.
Committees (same information as last LC)
- I sit on the Committee on Enrolment and Student Aairs (CESA), the Committee on
Student Services (CSS), the Senate Committee on Physical Development (SCPD), an d
the Committee on Student Grieva nces (CSG). Should you have any questions about the
specific functions of these committees or ideas to bring to them, please ask!
- CESA and CSG have yet to meet in-person this term.
- CSS has operated more as an ideas board for McGill Student Services to get input on
their operations from the student Senators. If you have any feedback regarding services
please let me know and I will bring it to the Committee. Their scope of a ctivity can be
found on this website.
- SCPD was surprisingly mute regarding both asbestos and the New Vic project. I will
need to push harder to get some answers.
Miscellan eous
- I’m continuing my work with Let’s Eat McGill, focusing in particular on negotiations with
SHHS about foo d costs on campus.
Respe ctfully submitted,
Sam Baron
