Russian Student Society (RUSS) Departmental Report
Events
Our VP Events hosts regular, interactive events throughout the semester in which students
can practise their Russian skills and interact with peers in a fun environment.
- Translation Club is held every Tuesday in the Language Lounge (Sherbrooke Room
309).
- Russian Conversation Clubs and Movie Nights are held on an alternating basis on
Fridays.
- Trivia Night is held about once a month. Students can win prizes by answering
questions on Russian language, literature, and culture.
- Russian Evening is held in Thompson House at the end of the semester. It’s our
largest social event, spotlighting Russian literature and culture as well as featuring
performances in Russian by students.
Academic
The Russian Help Desk is held on Wednesdays and Thursdays in which a graduate student
at McGill provides academic support and test review for Russian language students.
Finance
Our VP Finance has been in contact with the AUS VP Finance and our budget has been
submitted and approved.
Communications
Our VP Communications sends out weekly Listserv emails about upcoming events,
opportunities, and other important information.
External
We are in the process of getting in contact with the other language student associations so we
can coordinate projects and events with them.
