Report for the World Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies Students Association

Hello! This is a quick overview of what WIMESSA has been and is currently working on.
President:
- Our President is currently working on submitting input to the Institute of Islamic
Studies' 10-year cyclical review.
Internal:
- Our VP Internal has moved the listserv to Wednesday.
Exchange:
- Our VP of exchange is currently working on updating the course description of ISLA
499 and getting in touch with the Canadian Arab Institute to explore more internship
opportunities.
Academic:
- Our VP Academic is working on organizing the department’s annual Research
Brunch. She has already recruited speakers and is currently working on solidifying a
time, date, and room.
Events:
- Our VP Events have recently worked on collaborating with SPHR during IAW week
during which we hosted a movie screening and discussion with the organization. She
had also hosted a bake sale in collaboration with other execs to raise earthquake relief
funds for Turkey and Syria (raising a total of $640). Currently, she is working in
collaboration with our VP of academics on the Research Brunch. She is organizing
catering and a poster for the event. In addition, they are organizing a movie screening
and a talk with Professor Abisaab, for the Commemoration of the Lebanese Civil War.
Finance:
- Our VP Finance has no new updates at this time.
