AUS Senator Report (Sam Baron)
1. Senate Business Arising
a. The committee investigating New Models of Academic Program
Delivery (NEWMAD) made recommendations for how to go about
implementing new models, but no concrete plans have been
made yet. Please email me if you’d like a copy of the documents
for distribution to your departments.
b. Other boring things happened, such as…
i. Budget planning (TLDR: McGill spends way too much money)
ii. Reports from various committees (Senate Nominating Committee,
Board of Governors, Academic Policy Committee)
iii. The Annual Report of the Advisory Council on the Charter of
Students’ Rights was extremely brief - They did not meet once this
past year as there were no instances of Charter violations deemed
sucient enough for their input. Whether this is good or bad is up for
debate.
2. Senate Caucus Projects
a. Drafting a question about food costs on campus based on survey
information.
b. Drafting a question about the New Vic development project
based on Indigenous input on the archaeological practices used
to determine the viability of the development.
c. Looking for input on SACOMMSS from students who work with or
have used the service - Please email me if you would like to
provide information.
i. I can guarantee your anonymity in conversation with me and will
delete any online discussions held if requested.
ii. A survey will also be coming out soon should you not want to provide
information directly to an individual.
