Creative Drama & Theatre for Young Audiences -
Children’s Theatre of Elgin
Intro - Aimee Jarzembowski
Good Morning! My name is Aimee Jarzembowski, the Creative Drama and Theatre for
Young Audiences Co Representative, and co-founder of a Children’s Theatre Program
in Mokena, Illinois. I’d like to thank Carm and the ITA for this opportunity to introduce an
award for something near and dear to my heart.
Children's theater holds significant importance in today's world as it provides young
audiences with a unique platform to engage with complex emotions, diverse
perspectives, and critical life skills. In an era where digital media often dominates their
lives, live theater offers a tangible and interactive experience that fosters imagination,
empathy, and cultural awareness. By presenting stories that reflect a range of
experiences and backgrounds, children's theater not only entertains but also educates,
helping children navigate social and personal challenges in a safe and supportive
environment. Moreover, it encourages creativity and confidence, allowing children to
see themselves as active participants in the world of storytelling and performance. As
such, children's theater plays a crucial role in nurturing the next generation's emotional
intelligence and cultural understanding.
