This School Plan describes a Schoolwide Program that includes strategies, actions, and services
that address the requirements for Comprehensive Support and Improvement.
Briefly describe the school’s plan for effectively meeting the ESSA requirements in alignment with the
Local Control and Accountability Plan and other federal, state, and local programs.
Southwest High School, with the support of families and the surrounding community, is dedicated to
providing an educational environment where students are challenged, excellence is expected and
differences are valued.

Southwest High School is located in the Imperial Valley in the city of El Centro, a community of
44,364 residents. We represents an increasing variety of ethnic groups with an enrollment) of 2,086
students in grades nine through twelve (2019-20). Over 23% of the students are identified as English
Learners (ELs) and 8.47% are students identified with a disability. Over 70% of our students are
eligible for free or reduced lunches and their families are considered low income. The campus
reflects the cultural and socioeconomic makeup of the community.
