The following slides reflect the Senior Capstone Research Project completed by Melisa Monica
Sajjad. The project, with the thesis: “Smart city transformations fail to address the human element of
digital transformation”, has been displayed on a WordPress website hosted by NYU. Content from the
website has been formatted on this document for accessibility purposes.
The project consists of an in-depth analysis of the Siemens Atlas of Digitalization as a framework
for Smart City technological advancement, and suggests recommendations for improvement. The Atlas
of Digitalization evaluates cities on “Potential” and “Readiness” for digitalization. The recommendations
include the inclusion of Public Private Partnerships, “Smartivists”, people-centered city design, Open
Data Model, the integration of further metrics such as “experience per square foot” and “profit per
square foot”, so forth. Citations are also available for perusal.
