Learning and practicing independent living skills is an important step to prepare BORO
students for their transition to adulthood. The vision a student might have for their future
includes someday living in their own apartment, being in charge of their own health care,
or managing their own finances.
Sometimes, though, it's the little day to day tasks that can be overlooked while working
toward the big dream. In the last couple of weeks, our students have been practicing
such skills as... how to change a lightbulb! By gaining the skills and confidence to complete
these little tasks that are often taken for granted, students make important progress along
their path toward living independently!
