Jennings School District Early College Academy Agreement
As a participant in the Jennings Early College Academy, I understand the following (please check each box): ❏
Success in a college course requires good organizational skills and strong self-motivation.
❏ As a college student, I will have more unstructured time and must use this time between classes constructively for
homework and studying.
❏ College campuses are built for adult learning, and my courses might have more mature content than my high school
courses. Additionally, my professors will have high expectations for participation.
❏ If I earn a low grade, this will become a part of my college transcript and could potentially impact future financial aid
and college opportunities.
❏ While my parents/guardians will be important in supporting my efforts in this program, they will have limited access to
my student information, including attendance and grades. All parent/guardian concerns and questions about the
program and about courses must go through the high school.
❏ If I take part in the free/reduced lunch program, I will not have meals available free of cost on STLCC’s campus.
❏ I understand that some schools may limit financial aid packages if incoming students have earned a significant
number of credit hours. I understand it is my responsibility to check with prospective colleges and universities to see if
my participation in the Early College Options Program will impact my ability to earn financial aid.
As a participant in the Jennings Early College Options Program, I agree to the following (please check each box):
❏ I will take part in summer orientation at STLCC/ Florissant Valley.
❏ I will maintain full-time status (minimum 12 college credit hours), and if I choose to take part in MSHSAA sports or
activities, I will also maintain full-time high school status.
❏ I will provide my own transportation.
❏ I will put in my best effort and maintain good grades. If I drop a course, take an incomplete in a course, or earn a D
or an F in a course, I will be responsible for the tuition for that course and will be required to pay the tuition back to
Jennings School District.
❏ I will maintain good attendance at or above 95%.
❏ I will maintain good behavior and citizenship and meet the requirements and expectations of my courses.
❏ I will follow the STLCC calendar and attend class including days Jennings School District is not in session.
❏ I will reach out to my high school counselor, Dr. Jones Fowler, and to my advisor at STLCC if I need assistance or
support in any way. ❏ If I have not already met my Personal Finance, PE, and health graduation requirements, I will
do so through this current spring semester or through summer school this summer.
❏ As a part of the state requirement for graduation, all students must take the following end of course exams: English
2, Algebra 1 or Algebra 2, Biology, and Government. Additionally, all students must take the Missouri Constitution,
US Constitution, and Civics tests. I will take part in these required assessments at JHS as needed to fulfill these
requirements.
I understand that not following the terms of this agreement could result in my being removed from the Jennings Early
College Options Program.
