Dear Parents/Carers
I write to you all following the statement made earlier this week by the Deputy First Minister
(DFM), in which he signalled the intention to reopen schools across Scotland on a full-time
basis from August. We are currently preparing for all local children and young people to
return full-time to learning in schools on 12 August, whilst working to ensure the safety of
our learners and staff across all of our schools and settings.
In recent weeks we have undertaken a major programme of weekly planning and consultation
with our schools, elected members, community interest groups, partners and parent council
partnership groups and will continue to do so over the coming weeks and months following
the DFMs statement.
As a Council, along with the support of our partners, we are currently evaluating and
considering the full range of logistics and implications of the statement. We will await further
detail, clarity and guidance from The Scottish Government. This will be necessary to inform
future plans, systems and processes with a focus on the full time reopening of our schools
and Early Learning and Care (ELC) settings in August.
We will update you on further detail, and make this information accessible, over the coming
days.
