Introduction
A set of noninvasive, quantitative techniques for determining an individual's body fat
composition by measuring, recording, and analyzing specific dimensions of the body, such as
height and weight; skin-fold thickness; and bodily circumference at the waist, hip, and chest.
Anthropometrics is the study of the human body measurements to be used in anthropological
classification and comparison. Anthropometry is the science of measuring the human body's
height, weight, and size of constituent parts, such as the skin fold thickness for study and
comparison purposes. Anthropometry refers to the measurement of the human individual. An
early tool of physical anthropology, it has been used for identification, for the purposes of
understanding human physical variation, in pale anthropology and in various attempts to co-
relate physical with racial and psychological traits.
Anthropometry is the measurement of body parameters to indicate nutritional status.
Anthropometry can be used to measure an individual to determine if he or she needs
nutrition intervention or it can be used to measure many individuals to determine
