Abstract:
Inception of the Indian mutual fund industry was in 1963. Mutual funds have new emerged
investment avenues and played major role in the development country. Mutual funds are one
at the fastest growing sectors in Indian economy and excellent growth in future. Investor can
invest in mutual funds as little as a few hundred rupees and buy units of a particular mutual
fund scheme. The study is based on secondary data and focused on various parameters such
as contribution of SIP, Assets Under Management, Net Resource Mobilized by Bank-
sponsored and FI-sponsored mutual funds. The study is concludingthat mutual fund industry
facing various problems and investors having lack awareness about the mutual funds
schemes. So, mutual fund companies should arranged investment related seminar in various
regional. The study is finding that recently majority of the investors choose private sectors
mutual fund because during the 2018-19 private sector mutual funds mobilized Rs. 61,083
crores and today AUM has reached to Rs. 27 lakh crore which shows that there is huge
success to this investment product which is aimed at the retail investor.
