Abstract
With economic development of the country, Indian capital market has grown multifold and
become more structured and regulated. It offers various asset class based on customized
structured instruments of investments which are not limited to Fixed income product or
Direct Equity but have products of other assets like Gold, Commodity & Real Estate too.
Today Retail investments are not limited to fixed deposits only, it is partnering with the
business & corporate for wealth creation in long term for self and thereby contributing to
Nation Building through investing in Sectorial & Infrastructural development. Study reveals
that dependency of Indian Capital Market is changing in present scenario from Foreign
Institutional Investors or Foreign Private Investors to Domestic Investors. Today Domestic
Institutional investors as well as Retail investors are also participating significantly and
having remarkable weightage in capital market. The preference of the retail investors is
shifting from Government Securities, Bank FDs & Small Saving Scheme to Mutual Funds
for investments in Equity as well as other Debt Products / Paper Gold /Invit Funds / Real
Estate Investments Fund (REITs) which is proving to be a game changer. Very soon this
emerging pattern of domestic Investments, mainly retail investors, will play an important role
in balancing economic parameters.
