‘Khoba’ village

Abstract
This paper is based on information provided by Valsad District Human Development Report
prepared by author of this paper. This is running self-experience of the author during the
preparation of Valsad DHDR (2015-2017). This paper deals with Challenges toward the
Education at Remote Tribal area, this case study is about ‘Khoba’ village. Located at the
Gujarat Maharastra border in Valsad district. Story starts since 2007 as Mr. Nilam Patel took
admission for MA degree in Gujarat Vidyapith. Along with other teachers, author also teach
him. After passing final MA examination Nilam decided to join Gram-Shilpi project (See:
Page 8 )of the university and decide to serve the remote community. He established school
and then residential school with the help of private donation at Khoba village. Author visited
and experienced Khobain 2009 with Nilam at initial phase (before Nilam’s intervene in local
community). Author conduct NSS Camp in Khoba with Nilam’s help in 2010 with 50
students and experience the journey of transforming community. Time by time author visit
Khoba as a part of rural visit programme (Gram Jivan Yatra: university initiative). In 2015 to
2017 when author engage to prepare district human development report(Published by
GSIDS, Government of Gujarat 2018) author reported this entire success story with multiple
visit and evidence from the Khoba.
Paper starts with challenges toward the education of district with secondary data by various
government sources. With this challenging background paper discuss the details of Khoba
case study in second phase of this paper.
