Congratulations! You are beginning a process of bringing a life-long companion and
family member into your home. This application is designed to help determine the
animal you have selected is best suited to your family and lifestyle.
COMPLETING AN APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN APPROVAL FOR ADOPTION.
MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS MAY BE PLACED ON THE SAME ANIMAL. WE DO NOT PROCESS
THEM ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. ALL APPLICANTS ARE GIVEN EQUAL
CONSIDERATION.
PLEASE NOTE: WE CANNOT HOLD ANIMALS FOR ANYONE. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE “PERFECT PET”. Any adopted animal will require
training, patience, and ample time to adjust to its new home. While we carefully
monitor animals surrendered to HCPA, we have limited knowledge of their
backgrounds. We, therefore, cannot guarantee the health, behavior, age, health care, or
breed of any animal adopted from the shelter.
HCPA will require the adopter to personally meet the animal they are interested in.
Very few out of state inquiries are waived to personally meet them due to the fact that
we need to see how the animal & the adopter interact with each other to finalize the
approval. Plus, the adopter would then be the one with the animal during the time
going to the home. Some of our animals have been thru so much that we try to
minimize any undue stress and confusion.
The potential adopter needs to be committed in providing full care for the animal in
which some cases are costly financially or time consuming. Adoption is a life time
commitment to the animal.
