• 10% copper sulfate (CuSO4) solution • Test tubes
• 10% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution • Denatured alcohol
• Test tube rack • Thermometer
• Vinegar • Baking soda
• Matches • Forceps or crucible
• Iron nail/shoe tack tong
• spatula or small teaspoon
Procedure A. Iron Nail-Copper Sulfate Reaction
1. Fill a test tube with 10 mL of copper sulfate solution.
2. Drop the nail gently into the solution.
3. Place the test tube in the test tube rack for a few minutes.
