Sick Leave Cash Out to Supplemental Retirement Plans
Eligible members of AEA, EXEMPT, APA and ACE may request a cash out of sick leave to be deposited to
their 403(b)/457(b) retirement plans record kept by Empower Retirement.
Eligible Employees:
•
AEA employees who participate in the State of Alaska TRS Tier III Defined Contribution
Plan.
•
APA employees who participate in the State of Alaska TRS Tier III Defined Contribution
Plan.
•
ACE employees who participate in the TRS Tier III Defined Contribution Retire Plan or
any tier of the State of Alaska PERS.
•
EXEMPT employees who participate in the TRS Tier III Defined Contribution Plan or any
tier of the State of Alaska PERS.
Sick Leave Amounts:
•
Employees with a sick leave balance of 13 sick days accrued may contribute up to one
(1) sick day per year.
•
Employees with a sick leave balance of 26 sick days accrued may contribute up to two
(2) sick days per year.
•
Employees with a sick leave balance of 100 sick days accrued may contribute up to
three (3) sick days accrued per year
Checklist:
1. Enroll and have an active deferral to either the 403(B) or 457(B) retirement plan no
later than Thursday, April 24, 2025.
For enrollment or deferral help, contact the ASD Benefits Department or Empower
Retirement at 800-232-0859. An active deferral must be in place through the month of
June.
2. Complete the request form to cash out leave no later than Thursday, May 1, 2025.
For assistance with the request form, contact ASD Payroll or call 907.742.4103. Copies
do not need to be provided to the Benefits Department.
All requests which met eligibility requirements will be processed for deposit in June
2025.
