2020-2021 School Reopening Plan

These procedures have been developed by the Ashley Grade School District 15 Board of
Educa#on and Sta$, and are based upon guidance from the Illinois State Board of Educa#on
(ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).
The Restore Illinois Plan Phase 4 guidelines from ISBE and IDPH allow for students to return to
in-person (on-site) learning. The plan further states that for reopening Illinois schools must
follow approved safety guidance from the IDPH.
The Illinois State Board of Educa#on has placed a high priority on all students returning to in-
person learning instruc#on for the 2020-2021 school year. The Illinois Department of Public
Health and Illinois State Board of Educa#on have issued the following joint guidance for the
reopening of schools:
Required use of appropriate Personal Protec#ve Equipment (PPE), including face
coverings (masks) for every person before entering the school building(s). This includes
parents and visitors.
The district will consider the use of face shields for students/sta$ who present a
physician’s note for face covering exemp#on.
Prohibit more than 50 individuals from gathering in one space/area.
Require social distancing observed to the greatest extent possible.
Require that schools conduct symptom screenings and temperature checks with every
person (including parents and visitors), or individuals self-cer#fy that they are free of
symptoms before entering the school building(s).
Require an increase in schoolwide cleaning and disinfec#ng.
