REFUND POLICY
American Language Center

This refund policy is a general summary. The terms of the written refund policy signed by the student (prior to enrollment) or the Enrollment
Agreement (after enrollment begins) govern all refunds.
______ - Applying to F-1 visa from abroad*

➢ Students who applied for F-1 visa from abroad and received an entry visa are not eligible for a refund of their tuition deposit or any other
fees.
➢ Students who applied for F-1 visa from abroad and received a denial on their visa application are NOT eligible for a refund of their fees
(including the fees involved in preparing the documentation needed to apply for an F-1 visa from abroad).
______ - Change of Status to F-1 visa (within the US) *

➢ Students who applied for a change of status to F-1 visa in the United States and received an approval on the application are not eligible for a
refund of their tuition deposit or any other fees. Refunds will not be issued if USCIS has not yet made a decision on the change of status
application.
➢ Students who applied for a change of status in the United States and received a denial on their USCIS application may be eligible for a
refund of prepaid tuition, excluding non-refundable fees, based on the student’s enrollment status and the terms of this refund policy. No
refund is issued if:
• a denial is due to an incomplete submission of the application for a change of status,
• for abandoning the application (leaving the United States before a decision has been made on your application),
• due to a failure to respond or due to an incomplete response to a USCIS Request for Evidence.
• failing to maintain their current status (Example: failing to extend or otherwise maintain current status in the United States while
the application is pending)
______ - F-1 student transferring to American Language Center*

➢ Students who transfer to American LC from another SEVP-approved school are not eligible for a refund of their tuition deposit or any other
fees.
______ - Domestic / Non-F-1 visa students*

➢ Domestic / Non-F-1 visa students are eligible for a full refund of their initial tuition deposit excluding non-refundable fees (e.g., application
and related fees) if they notify American Language Center in writing about their withdrawal at least three business days prior to their first
day of classes. Any additional prepaid tuition or charges after the initial deposit are non-refundable.
*If a student fails to pay his/her account bill or any money due and owing American Language Center by the scheduled due date and fails to
make acceptable payment arrangements to bring their account current, the student’s delinquent account may be referred to a collection agency. A
student will be responsible for paying the collection agency fee which may be based on a percentage at a maximum of 33 1/3 percent of his/her
delinquent account, together with all costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, necessary for the collection of the delinquent
account. All delinquent accounts may be reported to one or more credit bureaus. Payment due dates will be provided in the student’s payment
schedule or enrollment documentation.
**All refund requests are processed within forty-five days after the initial written refund request. Non-refundable fees are not refundable. There
will be no refund for unauthorized withdrawals. (For example, not showing up for classes). All withdrawals and refund requests must be
submitted in writing. Additional terms and conditions may apply as stated in this refund policy and any signed enrollment documents.
